You have to go through hidden gaps in the walls. I don't know which particular chests you're refering to, but some of them do have good items.

heres what you missed
okay guys heres the deal the chest you missed out on contained a mini spell book and 4 potions and put it this way unless your training up stats magic like me theres no point getting it and on the third floor theres an ice bow in the chest, if you couldnt get to that either now that was usful for you archer character, I know this because i just did the cave myself and got those items but even im not gonna use mini until i can teach leonheart it becoz im having all red mages even agains everyones advice lol
