Thread: FF7 remake for a movie?

Default FF7 remake for a movie?

Well I was talking to my nephew the other day and we were talking about advent children and he said he thinks they should make a movie about the game not 2 years later but the events during the game. I don't know about what anybody else thinks but that sounds cool, but it would be like 3 to 4 hours long if they were going to put everything that happens in the game. What does everbody else think?:choc2:

Why? If you want to know the story of FFVII, play the game or read a game script. If you want to watch a film, play FFX. It'd be more than 3-4 hours at any rate. The blurb on the case claims there's 2 hours of FMV in the game, and that hardly covers the story. 3-4 hours would barely scratch the surface.

That sounds like when Peter Jackson approached New Line for a two movie Lord of the Rings deal. They said, "that's not two movies, it's three". FF7 is too complicated for one movie, it has to be more like seven movies, or else it would really suck.

Making a game into a movie is a horrible idea as a general rule. Making an RPG game is moreso. There's too much content in a game like Final Fantasy VII to make it into a proper movie; with the time constraints of a movie, it's rather difficult and frankly not worth it. A game is designed to be enjoyed a specific way (hint, playing), while a movie is made to be enjoyed another way (hint, watching). The translation of one into the other loses what made it great in the first place. The risk of alienating fans of the game (and/or movie) by what the fans may see as being untrue to the characters because of different interpertations of the characters is also too much; while there's wide acclaimation of Advent Children, there's plenty of people hating it, saying that it did not live up to expectations.

Can't please everybody, but you can sure keep people happy with what they already have.

that would be cool if they did make a re-make into a movie, but i heard they might re-make FFVII into a Ps3 Video game so i'm not worried
