Having played neither of them, the Les Paul is prettier.
Although I've never played one, I think the SG is an ugly guitar, so the Les Paul wins for me.

Les paul has such a better neck. Way easier to solo on. Besides the fact it's freaking heavy, Les paul all the way.

But i'd much prefer a Fender Strat than either of them.
As I have just recently picked up a Les Paul Black Beauty Custom, I'm going to say Les Paul, as I am absolutly in love with this guitar. I made love to it last night.
