I think your best start would be with [downloading their client and the other programs] and working from there. I imagine everything is taken care of in those programs and instructions on the linked page.

More information can probably be had by PMing people named on the contact page on the fora (even if it's dead, they still may recieve PM notices in their mail) or e-mailing the server owner. EoFF doesn't hold many comprehensive FAQs and the like for other sites and non-Final Fantasy games, so help here is quite limited.
