I don't think taking off Riquelme was necessarily a bad idea, but taking him off for a defence-orientated player like Cambiasso instead of an attacking one like Messi was what caused the downfall of Argentina.

Being English, it was hard to know who to support, so in the end I decided to support the game going to penalties, so I'm pleased.

OMG THE TEARS!!!!!! I DONT KNOW IF CAN HOLD THEM BACK!
I would have liked to see it end before penalties, but this way we seen that Lehmann WAS a good choice instead of Kahn.
Ah its a dream come true!

Why did Argentina pull their starting goalie?

Decided to try to find out what the problem was that enraged some of the Argentinians - apparently Lehmann left his line before Cambiasso struck the ball.

EDIT: eest - the starting 'keeper got stretchered off.

It was clear during extra time that Argentina wanted to force penalties because they assumed they had the advantage.

Ukraine is really my last hope. After them I really don't care. I might even support Germany because it will be awesome for the home team.

Argentina are such bad losers, i saw a Argentina player literally fly in and take a swing at one of the German players.

Messi has only just recovered from a thigh injury, so it could of possibly flaired up again, but saying , if he did have a injury, we would of known about it.

Ah who cares, Argentina are going home!

ok. hard to tell that from the internet feed. still, why would they want to go to penalties when their best goalkeeper is out? Seems pretty arrogant to think you can win a shootout without your top keeper.

I heard Germany hadn't even practiced much for the possibility of penalties.

From the way the commentators were talking over here, taking Germany to penalties is a very ballsy thing to do, apparently they're very clinical about them. As shown, I guess the commentators were right!

to be fair, Argentina did take a lot more shots than Germany in the extra time.

I was listening to the Hispanic commentators here. They were really fair I thought.

From what I gathered from our commentators, neither team had been defeated on penalties before today, and they kept mentioning how both had beaten England on penalties, just in case we had forgotten.

I would encourage the manager to pick who he wants to take penalties. It was quite simple for me to predict the outcome of the two misses. I prefered to see Argentina in the semis due to their one-touch passing, their imaginativity and their individual talent but I guess seeing Germany in the semis isn't too bad. Add my name to the list of people questioning why Messi wasn't fielded. I'm pretty confident Germany will reach the final now.
btw did anyone see that tiny bug crawling on the football before one of the goal kicks?
