Quoted for truth. The ref got that decision spot on. The defender got the ball, if you looked at it from the right angle, and so it wasn't a direct foul on Lennon.

Portugal weren't the best team at all. They couldn't put one goal past 10 men in an hours play. If England had been able to take their chances they would have won, but they didn't. Portugal didn't even have a striker on the pitch for about 20 minutes, so saying "the best team won" is pretty much a lie. Neither team were excellent, but England played far better than Portugal did, except for finishing, and except for Ricardo in the shootout.

Knowing Scolari as much as I do, though, that's exactly how he wants his teams to play. He doesn't care as to whether he has ball possession or not, or if he just got close to scoring: as long as the team remains calm, it's fine, because he's going to find a way.

Oh, and Scolari proved that choosing Ricardo over Vitor Baia was a wise decision.

If it was just for 15 minutes at the end of Extra time then yeah, sure, I'd buy that. But where is the sense in sitting back for an hour against 10 men to go to penalities which you could have potentially lost, when you could just take the game against a weakened opposition? Quite frankly Portugal didn't press the advantage at all.

Ronaldo was a prick during that game to be honest. Even before the match he was trying to piss Rooney off, going right upto him and putting his forehead right into Rooney's head, and looked at him horribly. Not really very good sportsmanship from him at all.
