First of all. I don't know names of actors from japan. But i do know that I would find them more appealing then western actors.
This is somehow less than convincing, but sure, what the heck.

When I first posted in here, I came with my opinion and I did not bother anyone else's. But I guess people are just anal.
Actually, you came in and after a simple post which was one part wry poking and one part explaining that having asians to play characters the creator had said were explicitly western was kinda silly, you said "should" and then seem to have gone on the defensive.

On the OTHER hand, when Sunrise Bandai decided to make a live action Gundam movie, they went with WESTERN actors for the movie.

I don't understand why you must break up all of my posts and pick little things out just to make me feel stupid. I came in here with my opinion and I wasn't messin with anyone else. Why are you picking someone for a simple spelling error I may have made? Is that what you set out to do?
You called me a smegging retard. You have no leg to stand on. And you can have your opinion. You can't use opinion as a defense. Especially once you utter the magic word of 'should'.

And just because you think something, does not mean it should be so.
Let's use another example. Someone wants to make a live action version of a fictionalized version of the vedas made by an American, but the author has said the characters are definitely Indian. Should the actors in this movie be Americans, since it is made in America, or Indian, since the characters are Indian?

Whooo! Calm down. Did you even see my first post? Everyone made they're opinion and so I made mine. Since when was there any harm in that?

And for that last question. They should be Indian. The americans have lots of books or whatever you were implying with different raced characters. And when they make the movie, the character's protray the nationalities that were in the book.

That thing about the Gundam movie. Either that was done in english or they had western actors come and perform it in Japanese. Also most animes have characters that are blonde and blue eyed. and pale skin. Some of them. but most of them protray western characters. If I recall watching america's next top model. They went to Japan and this Japanese woman commented "The japanese wish to have eyes, hair and skin like that" She was directing that towards the pale white, blonde and blue eyed model.

There isn't. Nor is there any harm in us responding to you.

Congratulations. You agree with my original point.

They got Americans and Canadians to do the acting, but Sunrise Bandai was responsible for most all of the rest. I can't check the exact ratio, since my DVD is currently halfway across state (I'm house sitting at the moment and all I brought aside from essentials was a laptop bag), but S-B was the top dog.

Also most animes have characters that are blonde and blue eyed. and pale skin.
And Pink Haired, And Blue Haired, and Red Eyed. Though speaking of pale skin, have you ever taken a look at really old Japanese artwork? Everyone has pale skin, even if all the rest of the colors are spot on. It's an asthetic thing.
For example, Ranma 1/2. Except for the Chinese, everyone is explicitly Japanese. Ranma has Blue eyes, and half the time red hair. Shampoo, chinese, has purple hair and purple eyes.
YUA, the very japanese (and despite appearances male) Aoi has Blue eyes.
Kagome has IIRC green eyes in Inu Yasha.
Sailor Moon has Blonde eyed Blue Eyed Usagi, and her purple haired mom, blue haired Ami, Black with Purple Highlights Rei, etc. etc. All of these characters are supposed to be japanese.
Fruits Basket has the bright orange haired Kyo, purple eyed Yuki, etc.
Ouran High Host Club stars all japanese people. There are four blonde members of the regular cast.
There are a lot of blonde japanese in Anime. It's one of those odd things.

Some of them. but most of them protray western characters.
A lot of currently popular anime does portray westerners, yes, but there's a lot more that either stars N/A, or asians. This is counting all of the echelons though, and then there's halfbreed characters like Asuka, who really skew the margin.

If I recall watching america's next top model. They went to Japan and this Japanese woman commented "The japanese wish to have eyes, hair and skin like that" She was directing that towards the pale white, blonde and blue eyed model.
Oh, totally. But it's not a new thing. Again, look at ancient japanese art. Everyone was pale, and you'd occasionally get white haired maidens. It was a sign of nobility, IIRC. They basically thought themselves the white race, and the the west came and they had a bit of culture shock to find people more lily white than they were. Of course, with intermingling now, there's a decent chance a lot of them will. Might take another few generations for prevalency, though.

Neither do I. I guess that makes two of us.

All I do know is that this guy:

was one of the inspirations for Squall.

I could've sworn the Chinese were paler. They have like porcilen[SP?] skin

And as for Ouran Highschool. Tamaki was half french. But then again my friend is French and Japanese and she came out with light brown eyes and like light cream brown skin and light brown hair. Her mother was Japanese and her father was a blonde and blue eyed french man XD

porcelain. And eh, not particularly. If you look at their skin, the variation is about equal to caucasian skin tone variation, based on latitude, etc.

Well, that's one of four accounted for. I'll admit I've not progressed signifigantly far in Ouran, since I've only read it on loan from a friend.

Addendum: And Gackt is not the inspiration for Squall. The only person to ever say such a thing was Gackt, and he thinks he's the inspiration for EVERYTHING.

Oh for the love of the widow! Will somebody just let the Skittles and M&Ms out of their bags let them fight it out so we can get this over with?

Yeah. And the pics of him looking 'remotely' like Squall are from after the game came out.
Meanwhile, Nomura has said himself that River Phoenix was the basis for Squall.

Cid - Michael Richards (after all, Cid and Edea were named after Richards' Seinfeld character)
    Uh, proof?

General Caraway - R. Lee Ermey (for that Gunnery Sergeant Hartman feel to the character)
    R. Lee kicks ass, but Carraway does not have a gunnery sergeant feel.

And a Porn star for Quistis?!
One who doesn't even really look the part aside from being blonde, either.
