The slums... such a dreary place. Nobody lives there because they want to. They're just like the train... it can only go where the tracks take it.

the beginning made me happy, sort of a "well at least i'm not living in that dump" feeling
i liked the whole atmosphere that the slums set, its as if your fighting your way up from the bottom.

No, it doesn't
What makes me sad is that Aeris is trying to sell "flowers" in the alley. It's such a shame what drugs make people do.
It didn't make me sad. I like the way it looked actually
Vaan - "Hey, you!"
Penelo - "Yeah, you! The one reading this sig at this very moment!"
Vaan - "Interested in playing FFXII International Zodiac Job system?"
Ashe - "But you have no knowledge of the Japanese language?"
Fran - "....We could help...."
Balthier - "That's right, Fran! Just click on Crossblades' thread on the very bottom of this signature and it will show you all license grid translations, magicks and tecks locations, and other changes that were made!"
Basch - "Don't forget though. Swap Magic is needed to play this game if you don't own a japanese PS2."
Vaan - "Also remember that if you played the original, you'll have an easier time playing the international version. We hope you enjoy the International Zodiac Job System experience. See ya then!"

Nah. I thought the slums were boring.
LOL, I feel so happy listening to Levian's link.
Are we really so removed from the time of street vendors that this is the first thing people think of? Flower venders were amoung the bottom of society. You had to be desperate to sell flowers at pennies each to make a living. It's a very traditional role and perfectly placed.Originally Posted by Dignified Pauper
I thought it was the perfect touch. A little bit of color in an otherwise drab and dreary place with no hope of change. Yeah it's sad, it's supposed to be. When you start at the bottom there should be no way but up. Mind you some people get out a shovel and start digging.
But that certainly makes no sense when you get to her house. It's easily the fanciest in the area.
And no, I don't really feel sad at the beginning of the game. The only thing I can remember getting emotionally upset about was the death. I don't really feel anything but nostalgia when I play the game nowadays, and even then, just barely.
everything is wrapped in gray
i'm focusing on your image
can you hear me in the void?
Yeah, it's sad when you make Cloud a heartless bastard and refuse to buy a flower for only a Gil.
On seriousness, the plate easily tops any other beginning scene, emotionally.
