Havent got a clue. Maybe 20. But they need to be games, not spin offs or remakes.
If it goes over 20...something wrong happened. I want to see some finality in the FF series. (And no, not just a bunch of spin-offs, I mean actual games.)
Really, I could live with the 13 that are out already.

Eternal Fantasy anyone??? It'll go on as long as video game systems exist.
The FF franchise is stronger than ever, Its the series that Square gets the most money from, they wont just blurt out and say that FF? will be the last. They'll need a reason, and the best reason is the drop in popularity, which is unlikely to happen. So I reckon the series will last along time. My guess is late twenties to mid thirties.
The FF series will end when everyone who worked or was associated with the original game is either dead, dying, or incapacitated, and unable to contribute in any way, shape, or form. This'll take the series to the 20s, but not much further, depending on the popularity of the series.
Or the second generation of FF makers will be able to take the mantle of their predecessors, do them proud, and create a string of games even greater than the originals, ushering in a golden era (well, even MORE golden) for RPGs in general. And it'll thusly establish FF as a never ending series until video games are no more.

Maybe if SE started a new series that was like FF, (obviously still had the Fantasy RPG feel) but with a different name. I predict they'll go upto XV, and then unleash the sequels inbetween.
I'm expexcting XIII to be the last as they're making so MANY SPIN OFFS FOR IT, IT'S EITHER GOING TO BE the last one or they think it will be the next VII which I don't like but I'm guessing a round number like 15 or 20. and what was that pick of FFCD XII what does that translate too?
