i like option two: win materia as prizes (i guess materia doesnt always have to be the prize but everyone starting off with high level fire,thunder,ice and cure spells isnt good.)

OOC: Everyone start with Low-level Fire, Low-level Thunder, Low-level Ice and Low-level Cure. If he/she win a challenge, he/she can choose to either get a new materia or upgrade the materia that he/she have.

For Example: Barret wins a challenge, Jenova (blue phoenix) will tell Barret to send someone to Exile Island. Then Barret can choose his prize:
1) Upgrade current materia.
Or
2) Earn new materia.

Congratulations. u have immunity. i dont know quite what you were talking about when you said it was from option a and b. it appeared to be just going for the treasure, which is something kuja would do, and the technique was spot on.

Your prize (treasure) is the HP-Mp materia! (not a sick joke) make of it what you will, but with your high mp it could be immensely useful.

EDIT- oh and as of now theres a vote on which will end on tuesday (you can vote on tues, just not on wed)So ote who u want off! cept kuja cause hes got immunity.
