Hmmm I see after my long absence Unne's disapproval of Black Belts still remains rampant. >.>
This space intentionally left blank.
Just to point out, (after reading your speil on Black Belts) I have a level 31 ish party using a Ninja and Red, White, and Black Wizards. The Ninja completely sucks. He's got the Katana (I gave the Masamune to the White Mage) He's nothing more than an HP gutpunchee (and can't take that much of a beating), and it takes him two hits at least to kill anything! The White Mage with the Masamune I expected to be around the same, but its WAY better! And the runaway trick of the Ninja, doesn't work nearly often enough to be worthwhile. The Black Magic he gets is only useful for Fast, and not that useful at that. I managed to get this party to the Temple of Feinds, but I most certainly can't beat it. I'm having difficulties with Tiamat, let alone Chaos. I don't think I even got to Chaos yet...
So hate on Theives for once, ok?
the stupid blue haired bastards!
edit: oh yeah... nearly forgot, if I had a black belt instead of a theif, I think I'd be doing a helluvalot better.
The project that was awesome, has fallen apart... oh well.
I'm going to back up Unne here by saying that no fool would take a thief without a meatshield, meaning a fighter. Thieves are useful for their running skill early in the game, their backup strength to the more overwhelming strength of the fighter, and their use of level 1-4 black magic after class change (an extra blast of FAST, anyone?)
Although Black Belts are fun when you hate Black Mages and need a cheap alternative.
Hating black mages is not physically possible.
Really? (Goes and makes topic...)
If the class change gave Black Belts the ability to automatically counterattack when hit they wouldn't suck.
Look at Blackbelt's walking sprite- His feet fit into the end of his pants. He has footsie pajamas. That's reason enough to hate him, if you ask me.
Also, what sockmonkey said. That would drastically reduce the time fights with nine enemies take.
