Heh, valkurm varies really. Sometimes I've got lucky and caught 5 other people who are all levelling jobs, but when you start having to explain why war/whm is not good in an exp party, or what provoke does, it begins to get a little annoying. Im not adverse to helping new players, but when I want to exp effectively it can be a real pain.

I've totally given up on being nice to people in the dunes.

If more experienced people could advise newbies and help them out rather than simply ignoring them or berating them for sucking, maybe the dunes wouldn't be such a bad place.

It's very difficult to offer advice to people who arent willing to listen.

That's true but I think it's pretty 50/50 with newbies. Some are willing to learn, others are stubborn and ignorant. It's always worth it to try and figure out which newbie is which and help out the ones who are willing to listen. They'll remember you afterward. I know I remembered all the people who helped me out in the beginning when I didn't know what macros were or how to get off a chocobo.

Well in one day I already experienced the good and the bad. The good was fun though, so I guess that's enough to keep me happy.

I was so afraid of grouping when I started. I solo'd subless BLM to 13 in Ronfaure. I do remember however, that my first real PT was very exciting. It was amazing how a good groups supports each other.

Yeah, I remember a lot of good dunes parties. The real sad thing now is that a lot of the people I've helped seem to have disappeared. It's a pity really, a lot of them were starting to get really good.

It's hard to get bored in an hnmls w/ events/nm's to kill every other second, but even constant excitement gets old sometimes.
So I always have an offline game to fall back on, sometimes 2-3, when I don't have time for ffxi or RL's gotten me too tired to deal w/ an xp pt. Right now it's FFVI. Usually what happens is I get playing FFVI and something reminds me of FFXI, and the vanadiel vigor is restored
