personly my fav games are ff8 and the legand of zelda but by by sells the best selling game is probobly the best and i think thats the mario games
Hmm, I have a few I guess.
FFIX, LoZ: OoT, Riven (actually, I could say all Myst games, I love them). There are others but these stand out in my mind at the moment.

Katamari Damancy -- It's quirky but fun.
FF4 + FF6 -- FF was better before they decided that what we *really* wanted was a 40-hour long movie broken up by the few moments when we actually got to touch the effing controller.
Dragon Warriors 8 -- I love the cartoony look and the ol skool combat. COR BLIMEY, the acting sux though.
Suikoden III + V -- It's fun to be a hero, and even more fun if you have a castle and 108 soldiers alongside you
Samurai Warriors --TAKEDA SMASH!!!!111ONE!
Romance of the Three Kingdoms -- I love the style of this strategy game. It has to be the only turn based strategy game that allows you to avoid combat all together, as well as being able to betray one lord to serve another. Great setting too.
For me its Final Fantasy 8, but also the old Grand Theft Autos, Tomb Raiders and Metal Gear Solids.
Mario is an international powerhouse. No question. Super Mario Brothers was packaged with every NES sold, so that automatically put it on top, in terms of sales.
The highest selling game that was *not* packaged with a system is the first set of Pokemon games. That even outsold Tetris, which was a pack-in with the original Gameboy.

As for the *best* game of all time, that could lead to an endless debate. To be safe, I'll pick the first and 3rd Super Mario Bros for now. Sure, there are better games that came after them, but every game afterwards still looks back at 'em as a guideline. That's power.
For me It's Either the Wild Arms series or the Fire Emblem series that I think are the best.

Personally, I consider Final Fantasy IX to be the best game ever made. I love everything about the game; stunning graphics, amazing music and loveable characters.
This may not necessarily be the most successful game, but it is definitely one of the best, if not the best.
That's what I think, anyway.
