I figure he was hurt fighting Roxas.

That's what I thought, but apparently he was defeated once by him.

His arm is just wrapped up like an accessory to his outfit. He's running with a thumb in his pocket because he's an emo and it makes him look more punk-cool. That's like saying Roxas's little black finger bandaid is because his finger is cut off and he needs it to keep it on. His arm isn't broken folks.

You're right. Remember when fighting the last stage of Xemnas, where you control Riku for a brief time to rescue Sora? Well, I saw Riku kick some butt with his left arm, ya know.
