Metallica are pretty awesome. I like their old stuff, and albums like Black. I also bought the S&M DVD a few years ago, and thought that was really nice.

I really like all their old stuff (Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All, Black Album, etc..). I was really disappointed with St. Anger though. It seemed to not have any solo's, which is a major thing to me, especially coming from Metallica. The lyrics got repetitive and old really fast. The album just didn't have the same good Metallica sound from their works. Hopefully their next album will be better, at least better than St. Anger.
Yeah, if it's better then St Anger then it's enough to be considered great.

Oh and hearing the "new song" being played (heard it live and got it with my live at gelredome download) ( btw never thought i was ever going to pay for downloads) its good verry good, very good lyrics awesome riffs and a kickass solo, what mor edo you want

The lyrics sound alot like Frantic "Death is not the end" and crap like that. And James' voice KILLED the song even further........and there was TOO much riffing which repeated itself ALOT........and no great tempo changes
80's Metallica = teh awesome.
90's Metallica = Not bad, not as good as their 80's thrash stuff.
New Metallica = just plain atrocious.

uhm in the versions you can download (recorded from out of the audiance) thats practicly the only thing you can hear. in the version from livemet its way better. dont judge something you cant hear all that well. and no in no way is this like frantic

The Download 2006 version of the song failed you need a good quality version of Rock am Ring 2006 to hear it well. If they can outbetter St Anger it will be considered great because it will show they want to get better and that they are trying to be the best they can. Earlier in the thread you said you didn't care about the vocals as long as they're grunty and shattering or something like that DK, why are you so obsessive with the vocals at the moment? Not anything like you said earlier. Lol, I'm being a pain in the ass for pointing that out, don't be surprised at all because it's nothing new. St Anger has a few good songs but they're amazing done live, if they could re record the album and act like it's live then it'd be better IMO.
