According to you, using magic and summons must not be possible. Well the time thing is the same deal, and judging as how in the game they say "time compression" about 69,000 times, and "time absorption" once, I'd say it's fair to assume "time compression" is the right term.

What the scan actually says of Ultimecia is that she is "Transformed to absorb time and space." In other words, her absorbing it is an entirely different process from time compression. Time compression was necessary for her to absorb it.

Scanning Ultimecia in her first form reveals:
"A sorceress trying to change the world by compressing time and taking power from all sorceresses."
Then, she transforms for her final battle. The reason for her transformation is stated in her scan info:
"Ultimecia, transformed to absorb all time and space. Absorbing all existence as we speak."
Notice that it says ULTIMECIA is absorbing. Not TC. TC isn't even mentioned in the last scan info. So I'm afraid you're wrong :rolleyes2

I agree, Ultimecia is in the center of TC. So as time is compressed in towards her, she aborbs it all in her newly transformed shape. With it, she can also absorb space.
However, this is not the same as saying that time compression is time absorbtion. TC still only compresses time. It is Ultimecia, independent of TC, who absorbs it all. Your 2 phase thing has no backing anyway.

It should probably be noted that trying to use physics as anything more than a hypothisis as to what magic can and can't do within a work of fiction is utterly moronic and those that do so should be ridiculed accordingly.

If there is nothing within the game that refutes conservation of energy (and I can't think of anything off the top of my head, possibly GFs), then yes. But trying to use physical concepts in order to refute information within the game (eg, claiming that time is not being compressed because it is not physically possible) is ridiculous.
Besides, there's nothing wrong with time compression in our universe. According to general relativity, time and space are equally malleable, so in principle, it should be possible to compress space-time, even though we might not be able to in practise.
Well, technically speaking, compress space and you compress time. If all existence is a singularity, then no time exists. Ultimecia was attempting an unnecessarily grandiose form of big crunch.
Actually, in many ways Ultimecia seems to have been transforming herself into a super-massive black hole. Makes me wonder if Square didn't actually have real world physics in mind when making the game...
