Unlike many of the sitcoms out there whose purpose is just to make you laugh and they don't need to plan things out and there is really no need for you to see every single episode.

Kuzotz if you just see one random episode of Lost you probably will think it is rather confusing and uninteresting (and that is probably the main negative about the show (it is very hard for people who havn't watched it from the beginning to understand)).

But if you do go back and watch every single episode from the beginning you will probably find that it is an extremely addictive show and an extremely well done show to boot.
