Geeze so many big words This guess is probably really wrong but oh well might as well give it a try.

A Reticence Betrayed- Reticence...meaning like someone restrained or someone that doesn't speak freely? So if they betrayed it then they were silent but then they no longer were...?

The Ether Decayed- Ether...like the actual potion or just magic in general...or could it mean something else? Can't ether mean something else...I'm not sure. I have a feeling about this but I'm not sure if it's right.

Halcyon Waylaid- Halcyon means like calm or peaceful right? So to waylay the calm...to like seize or attack it? Meaning they wouldn't be calm or collected anymore, they'd be more...fierce maybe? I'm not sure.

Erroneously Portrayed- This part is hard...erroneously means false I think, false or untrue...something like that. Something that is falsely portrayed? Weird...I'm not to sure about this part either.

Well I've never actually went in depth with a riddle like this before, I just did it this time because this riddle confused me with the big words. Well anyway if I were to guess anything or anyone I'd say Saix? but I'm probaby wrong.

Sorry Ace, I probably sounded like I was telling you off. I just meant to say that if I answer questions like that, this'll turn into more of a 20-questions kinda thing, instead of a riddle thread. And sorry Majestic, my statement was aimed at Ace, not you.

The ether decayed -> ether has an esoteric root and often relates to light, magic (as in a potion) or as a 5th element. Possibly representative of the nature of the heart (and it's subsequent disappearance)

Halcyon waylaid -> you are not really at peace when your heart is taken, no?

Erroneously portrayed -> this could be literal shape of a heart in the game not resembling the actual organ or referring to the metamorphosis that occurs when a heart is stolen (Heartless and Nobodies)

In conclusion my answer is: the heart. More specifically a stolen Heart.

EDIT: Relates to Xehanort insofar as it is "No heart"
