Xehanort's Heartless. In other words, the guy who in Kingdom Hearts I was referred to as "Ansem".

Basically the riddle is talking about how powerful he thought he was, and the last bit about lending power is a reference to when he asks Kingdom Hearts to lend him strength. The destroying land part is a reference to Riku. ?
