I havent seen the series, but I think it would be easier if you perhaps watched the GITS movies.

I don't think it would help to watch the movies, though I do recommend the movies...far more than SAC. The series is just too long-winded. There are too many scenes where everyone is standing still, endlessly and monotonously elaborating where no elaboration is needed. It takes all of the life out of it...

Brian: "If I remember correctly, this is the Physics Department."
Chris: "That would explain all the gravity."

Yeah the movies are good, I watched the first one and it helps you understand the show a lot better. When I first watched the episodes a couple months ago, I was a little.. intimidated hehe. So yes, watch the movies! :P

Define what you exactly want explained?

What is the ghost in the shell?
    Stand Alone Complex theory?

It is a complex series and some concepts are easy to pick up while others not. That is why the last half of the last episode just sat around trying to explain what the Stand Alone Complex is.

Gig was jsut a "futuristic name for calling it seasons so instead of seasons the 2nd season takes up the 2nd gig ont he harddrive i guess.

ITs some marketing scheme I can assure you.
