Loki: I have an army.
Stark: We have a HULK!
Dev-C++; look at openGL tutorials. Of course, there is a rather steep learning curve![]()
( I am talking about programming )
[strike]C++[/strike] ... ACK!!!! NO!
Well... if it's an RPG... you may want to try RPG Maker XP... I believe Rase has the link somewhere... I don;t know where right now.
I hate C++.
Leave some shards under the belly
Lay some grease inside my hand
It's a sentimental jury
And the makings of a good plan
C++ is pretty much what you primarily use for writing games of any serious quality.
Yea, on DOS. Or maybe that's just the version of the compliler that my school used. I've had bad memories about C++.Originally Posted by Samuraid
For beginers, or for people who don't want to deal with extensive programming, I would say RPG Maker XP. However, if you don't wish to make an RPG, Game Maker isn't too bad in my opinion.
...
wrm; c++ is the most compatable lanuage to date that I know of. All comes down to the compiler; seriously though - Cpp is the most game friendly language. VB has been used in the past as well, which is just great, if you like to suck.Originally Posted by jesteranimefreak
C++ is simply the way to go if you want to write any commercial games. Otherwise kits like RPG maker are just peachy; but I don't think you can sell what you make with out a royalty somthing or other.

C++ has been around since forever. Early 1970's I know for a fact, cannot tell you what exact year. But yeah, DoS actually had a decent family of compilers supporting it. Basic was only more popular for it's ease of uses; and since gui's were hardly friendly (Save for apple's os) till the mid 90's, scripting was needed by a higher % of the computer users.
