The Best Hero Tournament (Official discussions thread)

This will be the official discussions thread for the Best Hero Tournament in General Gaming Discussion. Feel free to discuss about the tournament at hand. I will be making seperate threads for each bracket for easier voting. In those threads, you may discuss about that particular bracket and how things are going.

In any case, there will be eight brackets. Each named according to the top character listed as #1. The brackets are the following: Hyrule, Grey Fox, Heartless, Red Alert, Mushroom, Athens, Zebes, and Zenkden.

I'm pretty sure you can guess who's the top character in a few of the brackets. Expect to see eight threads sometime tomorrow (July 18) for voting. In case you forgot, voting will be done by polls, so vote accordingly.

OK, so here's my offer. I'm willing to write a battle between the two heroes and have the winner (by votes) be the victor. This may end up forcing some serious nerfing on the other end, but I'll make sure it ends up the way it's supposed to go. It'd be akin to my Grand Tournament that I did awhile back, so if you're interested I'm up for it.

Well, there's going to be eight match-ups per bracket in the first round. I'm not sure if you can do 16 battles within the first round, but if you can do it, I will love to see you give it a shot. It would make for a more interesting tournament. I really appreciate it BtV, man without peer!

How much advance notice can you give me? If I have enough time (I'm working and taking one class right now) I can definitely get them for you. They usually take me between half an hour and an hour to write each. And if I don't have time to do them all, I may write some of the more interesting match-ups and do something funny/weird for the others.

• There are 15 characters from the Final Fantasy series (including FFT, and FFTA).
• There are 23 characters from various Nintendo series.
• There are 9 characters from various fighting series.
• There are 21 female characters.

If anyone is bothered by the eight threads, please comment and give a brief explanation why it does. I'm sure it bothers some of you, so speak up so I may fix this problem in the future.

Perhaps an explanation on why you thought eight threads at once was the best approach to use would be better.

Well, I made a thread (the one asking for heroes) with a poll asking if I should go with keeping the tourney in one thread where votes are made by posts, or make seperate threads for each poll made. And the majority (7 out of 10) voted for the latter. So I went with it. I would have stuck everything in one thread, but the people want their polls to vote in.

Ok, well you only considered people who wanted to participate. Sure, 7 out of 10 people who were interested in your tournament wanted multiple threads, but that does not mean 70% of the general gaming regulars or the staff felt that way. This is a pretty active forum and I think 7 threads for one event will detract from the other topics in here.

I'm sorry, Del I posted the thread a few days ago, and no staff member other than Behold the Void viewed the thread. Now how about when the round is over, we can merge the polls with this thread? If I had the power to do so, I will do exactly that. I have done it elsewhere since all the polls were closed. I don't know if it will be much of a problem, but if it's too much of a hassle for the staff to merge the polls to this thread when the round is over, then at least allow the threads to be made for the polls in this tournament.
