Norton and BitTorrent

Norton with not shut the smurf up and stop telling me that BitComet is trying to access my computer. No <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">, Sherlock, it's a smurfing BitTorrent client. No matter how many times I click "permit", it won't stop. I regret subscribing to Norton's updates.

Norton antivirus is great. Norton internet security is not. You should use a hardware firewall (like a good router) and norton antivirus only.

Anyways...that aside, there should be a place where you can edit all the firewall rules in Norton internet security. You can search for .exe files to allow and explicitly add bitcomet's .exe to the list.

And as an aside, I'm sure you heard this before, but bitcomet has had a pretty bad track record of not following good torrent standards. Azureus and μTorrent are better choices.

Well, I've had good luck with it until I updated to the new version. I'll try the firewall rules thing. Assuming I can find it. :p

I don't have anything to suggest that's really helpful--however, I think you should switch to something that is not Norton (like AVG Free, which I use and haven't had any trouble with) because Norton is a pile of <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">. I had a few Trojans on my old desktop that Norton wouldn't do a thing about. Panda's FREE online scan fixed them up for me. Norton is worthless, plain and simple.

I have the Internet Sec. version. Can I install Norton Antivirus without all the extra security stuff?

Oh and roto, like Samuraid said use µTorrent. I use it too and it doesn't use as much CPU power like Azureus does (100% CPU) because Azureus is java-coded.

I had the exact same problem. I was going to get another client but I was busted by my parents. I just moved the window out of the way and carried on.

I don't really have a problem with slowdown or general lack of RAM on my computer, so I'm going to stick with BitComet. It does what I want it to do as well as I expect it to do it, and that's all I care about.:)
