Mario's first Basket Ball game to have Final Fantasy Characters!

July 14, 2006 - Square Enix updated the Japanese Mario Hoops 3-on-3 website today with new character profiles and some sweet concept art. This latest update revealed the unexpected addition of Final Fantasy characters to the already incredible looking game. Finally, players will be able to see who would win a game of hoops: Daisy or Moogle.


The characters revealed today are franchise staples Ninja, White Mage, Black Mage, Moogle, and Cactuar. It is unknown whether or not these will be the only Final Fantasy characters to make an appearance in the game, as there are still more character revelations to come. Each of these characters comes complete with his/her own Final Fantasy-themed special move: Black Mage can cast Meteor, Moogle can perform a Moogle Dance, White Mage can cast Holy, and Cactuar can summon 1000 Needles.

Interested gamers would be well advised to check out the Mario Hoops Official Site for an exclusive video of the game in action as well as bios for all the characters announced thus far. The site will surely update with new character bios and other info as the game's September release date approaches.

That's cool, but where are the Super Mario RPG characters like Geno, Mallow, Smithy, and Croco? For those of you who don't know, Super Mario RPG was developed by Square back in '96 for the Super NES.
