Why is this game so racist?

I think people are getting way to touchy with the whole racist thing. The whole FF7 being racist is nothing compared to some other games ( MGS Snake Eater has a big blond German guy bent on world war for one of the main bad guys). The game wouldent be the same with out Barret or any other of the charicters missing or changed around so that they dont seem racist to some people.

This is the most retarded comment ever wrought by man kind. MGS:3's story is historical fiction. Cold War...did you learn about that? If there is a man bent on world war, he was probably what was provoking the Cold War. He was not German. He was Russian.

What I find interesting is that when I first played FF7 I was young enough that I never in a thousand years would've contemplated this. It was just a funny man who swore a lot and...just happened to be black. If the first thing that stood out to you was that "Oh Lordy, it's a black guy!!!" then perhaps there's something wrong with you.

What I find to be slightly racist, if not just stupid, is this attitude "Yeah, but the Japanese have probably never heard of being black before, so they'll assume that they're all like Fiddy Cent". Japanese people might have a strange pop culture, but they aren't stupid.

Let's just ignore what an incredibly passionate man Barret is. Forget about him risking his life everyday just to try and make the world a better place for his daughter. Never mind his incredible strength and leadership abilities. It's apparently not important that it absolutely breaks his heart when Biggs, Wedge, and Jessie; 3 comrades he would've given his life for, are killed. Let's just focus on the fact that he lives in a slum (and let's ignore that this slum is populated almost entirely by whites anyway) and has a slightly stereotypical vernacular (but please don't mention the fact that it's shared by all the white people in his home town of Coral).

Besides, your missing my entire point. That point being that there are way wores racism/steriotypeing in the world than in FF7. The whole thing in about the cold war did not evan play a part in the main idea of the peice, or the discusion for that matter, so why bring it up? And, now that it is brought up, dose it change the fact that is still a blond Russian bent on provoking the Cold War? The fact still remains that the steriotype of a big blond violent Russian guy, wich is everywhere, in movies, games, books ect. The same gose for any affrican amarican or Aisain person. Steriotyping is everywhere. To change around the charicter's in FF game,anything els for that matter, to not be so "racist" would be taking a great deal away from the game and many other aspects of entertainment. Would it not be boring if we all looked the same, talked the same and thought the same?

Perhapes next time you should try reading in-between the lines and thinking about what you have read, instaed of getting hung up on the facts.

Oh my. How is this entire topic about racism when somebody stereotyped black people. It wasn't racist. It was stereotype. She said black people do it....not gangsters, or thugs,or some crap. Black people do. yup. There ya go. edcx, was that intended to be racist? I doubt it, but if it was, go ahead and let everybody know. Do you think they would racially insult Barret? He's a man who lives in the ghetto. He can't afford schooling, and that's why he's against the government (besaides his hometown incident). Nearly everyone who lived down there talked like a moron or slangly, so the fact that he did it meant nothing. He was the leader of a group many people in the slums looked up to. A hero. Unlike Biggs or Wedge, who if were black and joined your party would've been even more "racist" becuase they worked like slaves. Oh, and Barret didn't prefer a weapon orver a hand, as said previously, he lost his hand trying to save his best friend from falling to his death.
