LIES! from what iv seen as galka mnk war and drk i annihalate any elvaan of the same job and level in my party damage-wise

but in my opinion go for the extremity where if your a melee or tank of any kind use galka if ur a mage of any kind use taru. the only times when i prefer a different race is for thf and nin which i like mithra(the dex and agi) and rdm which i like hume and dragoon i choose elvaan.

i have mainly learned from my time playing that the balance making your job good is for mage and tank 60% skill 20% equipment and 20% race and melee is 20% skill 40% race and 40% equipment

Galkas have more hp than elvaan, more VIT too.

However Elvaan have more MP than Galka, and more STR/MND.

RDM is mostly a boost in MND, INT, and a convert Ratio of 1:1 as close as possible. Taru excel at the INT and Convert Ratio, however Elvaans have better MND.

Hume are best at nothing, but dont suck at anything either.

Here's some tips that may help you decide

    Warrior
Your responsibility in battle is to get the enemies attention and make him focus on you while the rest of your party hack and nuke (Casting Black Magic) away at the monster (Or the "Mob" as monsters are more commonly known in the world of Vana'Diel for some reason). Taking all the damage in battle is known as "Tanking", you may need to become familiar with this term as you'll most probably be asked to "Tank" a lot of the time.

Stats that are useful: VIT, STR, HP

    Monk
Just use your Skills and Abilities to hit the enemy as hard as you can, simple.

    Stats that are useful: STR

    White Mage
This Job leaves you with a big responsibility; to heal the party. Especially take notice of the tank, if he/she's taking all the damage he/she is the one going to need your healing spells the most.

Stats that are useful: MND, MP

    Black Mage
Simple really just cast harmful spells on your opponent, the only thing to remember is not to spam spells (Constantly cast them) when in a party as this will goad the mob into beating on your frail Black Mage body, and you will go down like a bag of potatos.

Stats that are useful: INT, MP

    Thief
This job doesn't have any real purpose in battle until later on, but it does have some neat tricks such as Flee (Allows you to run really fast) Treasure Hunter (Makes mobs drop their valubles) and an ability (I forget the name) that makes the mob drop more gil.

Stats that are useful: DEX, AGL, STR

And when you hit level 30 with one of the initial Jobs you can think about moving on to such Jobs as Paladin, Dark Knight, Dragoon, Ranger, Ninja, Samurai, Blue Mage, Corsair, Puppeteer or Beastmaster. I don't need to tell you what their roles are, you'll probably already find by the time you reach level 30 that in your experience you've partied with them all and know how they function.

If you look here* you find a table of the base stats of each race, this will let you see more clearly how to choose a race that will take advantage of the full strength of the Job you desire.

You can only do that when you get to level 30 and do the Quest for it.

Why don't you go make a topic about it, and stop asking completely off-topic questions in threads.

Its one of the main modifiers for the outcome of hp healed. MND should be macroed in for cure V, especially on larger HP pools like galka mnks, just like melee macro in STR for their ws modifiers, there should be no problem with a whm doing it, the MP won't serve any purpose if you're not at max anyways.

Thats funny its the first time i actually heard of MND being the main modifier and affecting curing to any real extent. I might try some healing out with and without my MND gear sometime.

But currently i value Cure Potency %+ , and Healing Skill for CureV over MND.

While it's nice to have some extra MND gear for your Cure V potency I don't think it makes or breaks you. It's a direct modifer and since Cure V doesn't have a softcap like the other cures it's quite easy to boost it pretty high, but I don't know that it's worth going out of the way to get MND gear. I think for a lot of WHMs it's lazy (cheap) way of gearing a slot that could otherwise be made more useful.

You could either have 5 MND on a slot to give an extra 5 to Cure V or you could have 25-30-50 MP on a slot which would give you at least 1 Cure II for 90. If you are a very serious endgame WHM I can see going through the trouble of having a MND set to slowly macro in as you use your MP. I just think this is an expense you should put off until you have a very hefty manapool.

Usually, the only use I see in huge MND builds is for WHM to have an epeen contest of their own. "ZOMG I did 1600+ for a Cure V" when it was something like Temenos (2xLight Weather) + Korin Obi + Medicine Ring + Noble's Tunic + Light/Apollo's Staff + Divine Seal + very unhealthy Galka MNK.
