Default The Truth- Why Did Aeris Die?

Here is the absolute truth upon the death of our beloved character Aeris so we can all stop asking questions like: Why'd Aeris have to die? And such. And so it goes like this:

    Question: Why did Aeris die?

Answer: The main director of Final Fantasy 7 lost his mother just a few years before the creation of this video game. He was so saddened and upset he wanted to share his utter pain with the world, the gaming world. So, he created FF7. In an interview, he said he was so sad he would base his next game on the theme of life and death. In the creation of the game, he set it up so people would get close to a sweet girl named Aeris. As well, in the creation of this game, he created a heartless evil villain named Sephiroth. Halfway through the game, Aeris is killed by Sephiroth. In the most dramatic and saddening 1st sequence, battle, and second sequence, along with the cinematics, we witness what has been voted, by gamers around the world, as the saddest cinema ever showed in video games. In the scene Aeris prays innocently to the planet while Sephiroth drives a sword through her back. After facing the boss, Jenova LIFE, we watch her burial, where she sinks to the bottom of the Forgotten City's lake, as well as we hear her ultimately saddening theme song. In the end, Aeris was there. She was always there to support the team. She had never left. So, in the end, Aeris was killed in cold blood by the game's director, not completely by Sephiroth

Actually when i first saw the scene of her death i thought Sephiroth was going to decapitate her.

And if you ask me i have a more plausibe reason for her death the director of the game was playing the the game before it was released and then he thought to himself...

"Hey wtf!?What the hell was i thinking when i added this stupid pink thing in the game!!!Who had this pathetic idea!?Was it you Jin Sun!?Well you´re FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!And kill this abomination of a character i hate pink!!!! "

That's only a half truth. Not to mention its a really old rumor. Where did you copy that from? It sounds too pompous to be an average message board goer's post.

Also, Sephiroth didn't kill Aeris :] He was frozen in the crater up north during the course of the game.

No, Kitase's mother died ten years before FF7. He was NOT referring to FF7 in his interview, and a simple look at the date of the interview would reveal that. Oi.

And it was Nomura who came up with the idea of killing Aerith, which he and Nojima expanded into contrasting between the overblown sacrifice of Cait and the cold murder of Aerith, in order to strike out at the cliche.

The only writing credit Kitase has for FF7 is the concept of the lifestream.

Addendum: Yes, Sephiroth killed Aerith. Sephiroth IS Jenova. He is its mind, its will. It was not his body, but it was his doing.

the scene where sephiroth kills aeris (yes. we all know by now that its not sephiroth but a clone of sephiroth but its easier just to say "when sephiroth kills aeris.)

anyway. the scene where sephiroth kills aeris is one of the best on the game. not because aeris died but becuase of how harsh and cold sephiroth is. this is a script for that scene.

    Cloud
    "...Aerith."

    (He gently shakes her body.)

    Cloud
    "This can't be real!"

    Sephiroth
"Do not worry. Soon the girl will become part of the Planet's
    energy."
"All that is left is to go North. The 'Promised Land' waits for
    me over the snowy fields."
"There I will become a new being by uniting with the planet. As
    will this girl...

    Cloud
    "...Shut up."

(He bows his head closer to Aerith, trembling. He abruptly looks up to
    Sephiroth.)

    Cloud
"The cycle of nature and your stupid plan don't mean a thing."

(He slowly turns his head back to Aerith's sleeping face.)

    Cloud
    "Aerith is gone."
"Aerith will no longer talk, no longer laugh, cry...... or get
    angry......"

(He holds her body closer to his and bows his head forward.)

    Cloud
"What about us...... what are WE supposed to do?"

(He gently rests her on the floor.)

    Cloud
    "What about my pain?"

    (He trembles.)

    Cloud
    "My fingers are tingling.
    My mouth is dry.
    My eyes are burning!"

(Sephiroth moves for the first time. He slowly lowers his arms and looks
    at Cloud.)

    Sephiroth
"What are you saying? Are you trying to tell me you have feelings
    too?"

(Cloud quickly stands up to face Sephiroth.)

    Cloud
"Of course! Who do you think I am!?"

    (Sephiroth starts to laugh.)

    Sephiroth
"Ha, ha, ha...... Stop acting as if you were sad."
"There's no need to act as though you're angry either."

(He rises into the air, looking down at Cloud.)

    Sephiroth
    "Because, Cloud. You are..."

(He rockets, spinning, high up into the air. His body becomes a tiny green
sphere, which lands at Cloud's feet. The screen glows red. Cloud covers
    his eyes.)

    (Boss battle with Jenova-LIFE)

    (The screen goes black.)

    Jenova
    "Because, you are...... a puppet."

    Cloud
    "I'm...... a puppet?"

the bit where sephiroth talks so cruelly is an incredible part. how can he be so cold? i never liked aeris much and out of all of the FF7 main characters she was my least favourite. she just didnt seems as interesting. her just plain being nice is boring at times and not as interesting as other characters. shes msterious too but that never really attracted my attention either.

where did you get that information from bizzarosephiroth?

As Ryushikaze said, Kitase was not talking about FFVII. This interview refers to what happened in FFIII. So please, can this old rumor finally be dropped. This s*** has been drug around the internet for years. It's starting to become like the "Aerith was supposed to be revived" rumor. It's all worthless s***.

Aeris was the most amazing character in the entire game. After her death everyone can see that Sephiroth (and his minions) are completely evil. The driving force to destroy this evil makes everyone want to finish the game and wipe that knowing smirk off of Sephiroth's effing face.

And she's really not useless in the game, my party really suffered after she left. Her limit breaks are priceless for their ability to heal the party and her skill with materia is unmatched. She's also sexy.

'The Truth (Spoilers)' or something along those lines as a thread title would be great.

Anyway, she died because, well, someone has to die. Goodness,it isn't like a playable character in an RPG hasn't died before. Ryushikaze's explanation seems to work (he cites the creators as a source, so it isn't like I can argue with that).

I keep stumbling apon more info on this game everyday. Sheezus.

I think him slaughtering all of Nibleheim was enough to prove his evil. Killing civvies is a lot more evil than killing the person who is directly opposing your plan. One is common sense. The other is excess.
Addendum: Actually, her death did not make me want to finish the game. I had all the necessary motivation already.

Her limits were nice but often redundant or unnecessary. Her Magic stat was higher than anyone else's, but not by much, and not enought to make up for all her other much lower stats.
Her sexiness is your own perogative, but is really irrelevant to her usefulness.

Oh yeah, and Galuf and Leo at least fought back against the evil boss.
