Default Is Megman comparable to Castlevania?

Somehow, my brother and I consider this a good debate. Maybe you guys will too.

To be more specific, is Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow comparable to the first Megaman X game?

I'll give my own opinion once the topic starts rolling.

Edit: Oh blargospalagin. I accidentally said "Megman" in the title. Could a moderator edit that for me? o.o

I think so. They're 2D side scroller action/adventure games with upgradeable characters, various weapons with limited ammo, etc.

I personally think that both Megaman and Castlevania more comparable to Metroid than to each other, but that's just me.
