Considering you're playing a boot-legged copy of the game I'm not surprised that it's not working right.

Yeah i figured that might be the reason which is why I've been thinking if i should buy final fantasy orgins for my play station. I looked it up on gamefaqs.com and some people said it was the sme as the orignal version of ff1 but improved such as the graphics and animations. Is the playstation version any diffrent than the older one?

The PSOne version is completely revamped with new graphics very similar to the Wonderswan release.

No, play the GBA version instead. Extra content, not just an opening CG movie.

Another question, have you been able to save on any of the NES games on that CD? It might be trying to access the memory on the cartridge, but since the disk is read-only it locks up.

Both the GBA and PS1 version has revamped sound and graphics. The PS1 has two nice opening sequences for the two games, but nothing extra. The GBA version has extra (more difficult) dungeons and items and such.
