The truth is, her death makes ff7 really memorable. Originally there was no Tifa, and Aeris was the main female character. Then one of the creators said, "Hey, let's kill off Aeris and bring in Tifa." But her death is what makes ff7 a really good game.

Umm... Dr. Acula, actually Aerith's death was planned from the beginning. I don't know where you heard otherwise, but the writers of the game have stated before that they intended for Aerith to die from the minute Nomura created her. To add to this they said something like, "We wanted to show that death is unexpected. In other games you always have the character sacrificing himself for his loved ones and then him coming back later in the game. We wanted to show that death isn't always dramatic, that it is something that is irreversible."

It was something like that. I don't remember the exact quote and I'm not going to go looking for it, but this should show that Aerith's death was always planned. There was never any plan for her to be the "main female". And if there's any of you on here that believe that the creators intended for Aerith to be ressurected but that it was taken out, hopefully this will put those thoughts to rest as well.

Hmm...my sources must have been wrong. Ah, well, whatyagonnado.
And, yeah, she wasn't supposed to be ressurected. I knew that much.

Nop Tifa is the real female lead, Aeris is just a playable character for a part of the game like Banon or Blank and Marcus, they killed her because they thought her relation with Cloud was pathetic especially with the way it started.

ill agree with that. the relationship between cloud and aeris is boring. its just so plain and boring and nothing compared to things like squall and rinoa in FF8. thats the reason i disliked aeris. she was uninteresting as a character. id still like to know where bizzaro sephiroth got that info from.

Why are you comparing it to Squall and Rinoa? Did you play FF8 before 7 or something?

Actually, Aerith wasn't meant to die from day one- in the very beginning of the game's development, very little was determined. It was, however, one of the very first things decided in development, and came about as soon as Tifa and the other characters (the very bare bones original game apparently only had Cloud, Aerith, and Barret. It didn't even have Sephy yet then) came into play.

Why didn't Cloud just use a Phoenix Down on Aerith?

This is slightly off-topic, but what game in the series switched from 'dead' to 'knocked out' when incapacitated in battle?

    Or we could just say...

Don't expect battle mechanics to carry over into the "real world."

Not sure. I do however know that some of the games used "wounded" instead.

And yes indeed, battle mechanics do not carry over to the real world. I can't think of a single game that does. Oh, Krile seemed to think they did, as she tried tons of curative spells and items on Galuf. She was proved wrong though.
