Word to the Wise!
I STRONGLY suggest, when you get the game, that you all go through the tutorial in the main menu. The stuff you learn in there can save your life. I know it saved mine! It's only a half an hour of training, very good walkthrough on how to use everything, from walking, to materia, to shooting, and to your guns.
I picked it up pretty quick w/o the tutorial, but I may check it out to see if I missed anything.

Is the game pretty story driven as far as you can tell at this point (don't necessarily need to know any details of the story).
I saw koyasuslave do the tutorial at my house....but from what I was able to see of the main game, it's kinda story driven...I dunno, i only saw, like, 5 minutes of it.

I didn't bother with the tutorial and I haven't had any problems picking everything up.
But if you don't go through the tutorial, you don't get to see Vincent as a Turk, doing the but wiggle! The fangirls rejoice!!!! LOL
