Thread: Tired Of The Fashion!

Fantasy doesn't equate to outlandish. That doesn't mean I think every character should be cookie cutter. Despite the fact that I think even if they were toned down it wouldn't matter because they aren't what they wear. They have their own defined personalities so set them apart. They can look different, without looking gaudy or (in my opinion) stupid. (The outfits, not the characters wearing them). So yeah, if making a character design is what they consider creativity. Maybe they should tone down their creativity a bit. But I doubt it will make me hate the game any more than I already will. So there's definitely room to be nit-picky whilst still giving the game its due credit

I love how it's uneven!!! I love the odd outfits. A bit revealing though.

    They all need more belts.

    More belts.

if people dressed normally in FF it wouldn't look good. they are from another planet in an imaginary universe. hardly anyone complains about what they wear (apart from some things on FFX-2.) and it's never a random "ooh! lets give that guy a cape." the suits usually suit the game and the planet the game is set on.

    People TOTALLY dress like that!
There's a difference between fantastical works of artistic creativity and cynical exploitation of current fashion trends.

I think a lot of the recent costume designs for FF have been pretty bad. It's like they're trying too hard. None of it is organic. Oh let's add a belt here! Oh and shiny knee pad things here! Oh oh oh!

i'm not sure how you'd actually put some of these outfits on without an instruction booklet

However, lulu's belts are perfection and should not under any circumstances be altered.

i assume a lot of the criticism is about ashe. if you look carefully i think youll notice it not a 50 peice costume that need an instruction manual to put on. it just look a lot more complex than it is. im fine with the clothes.

I like FFVIII outfits. I like everything about FFVIII so I'm going to agree with you solely because you complimented it

If and when a Final Fantasy game is set on Earth in 2006, then I imagine the characters will wear normal clothes.

I think they just want to make their characters stand out so that they're more noticeable.

Their clothes also reflect the fantasy world they leave in.

I mean imagine for example if Kimahri was dressed in a business suit and Auron is a tuxedo.

Or imagine Squall dressed in shorts and sandals.

Or Quistis dressed like a sexy school teacher...ohh wait hummm forget about that one.

I think most outfits fit in nicely.
