Default Songs for the soul

Has anyone on here ever listened to a song (doesn't matter which song) and just got this kind of weird vibe from it? Like, did it make you feel something you just couldn't explain. Maybe it was the particular mood you were in at the time you listened to it or just the song itself. This happened to me last night with the song Fire Above, Ice Below by Agalloch. Just curious if anyone else has ever felt something like that and if so what song or songs.

The Land Between Solar Systems by Múm had a weird kind of effect on me the first time I heard it. So strangely surreal and beautiful, it was like listening to music of a civilaztion lost. 13 Angels Standing Guard 'Round The Side Of Your Bed by A Silver Mount Zion has a very similar feeling I think. Hell, pretty much all songs by Explosions In The Sky and GY!BE make me feel that way.

The first time I heard John Denver's "Stonehaven Sunset" I got a pretty weird feeling. I don't get it anymore, but it was pretty cool at the time.

Stoneheaven sunset, the water's on fire
My true love is singing, we kiss and conspire
Sing a song for the ocean, a song for the sky,
A song for tomorrow, love's sweet by-and-by.
For the child who is coming, and for dreams that come true,
Sing a song for each other, for me and for you.
Sing a song for all lovers, all the stars in the sky,
Sing of Stonehaven water home, Stonehaven sunrise.

Stonehaven sunset, the desert's on fire
Christ on the cross again burns with desire
They are shooting at random, though they aim at us all
It's the children who'll rise up, and children who fall
All the angels are weeping the sweetest of tears
Fall like rivers of mercy to wash all our fears
Sing a song for old glory, and a future that dies
Sing of Stonehaven desert home, Stonehaven sunrise.

Stonehaven sunset, the city's on fire
The soldiers just smile and say, "This gun's for hire."
Give into the beast, boy, give into the thrill
It's just human nature to hunt and to kill
We all die together, and yet somehow alone
Just together we have memories, and then they are gone
Sing a song for old soldier, a chorus of sighs
Sing of Stonehaven city home, Stonehaven sunrise.

Stonehaven sunset, the mountain's on fire
My spirit is lifted, rising higher and higher
All the prophets are laughing, they say, "We told you so."
It's one thing to play guessing games, another to know
Oh, the needs of the many are the sins of a few
And the day is forthcoming when accounting is due
Sing a song for sweet justice, with a fire in her eyes
Sing of Stonehaven mountain home, Stonehaven sunrise.

Ambient 1: Music for Airports (Brian Eno) does that sort of stuff for me.

This one time I was playing my favourite song over and over, and it just connected with something. It was like a religious experience or something like that.

:Wumpscut:, Das Ich, Skinny Puppy, and VNV Nation all seem to cause me to feel that undefinable feeling that you speak of. Most notably is this effect felt in the song Jesus Antichristus (recently deceased remix) by :Wumpscut: on his newest album set of Cannibal Anthem (remix Kultur).

When I first heard 'Reptile' by NIN... I was blown away. Even now, I get a vibe of serene beauty from it, while other people listen to it and try very hard not to throw up.

Dance Music by The Mountain Goats. It always sends a shiver through me everytime I hear it. Mostly the line "lean in close to my little record player on the floor, so this is what the volume knob's for" and the fact its just all about music making stuff feel better. I just love that song...
