I was under the impression that it was announced very early on that the Ivalice from each game is completely independant of the others. They're all different Ivalices. The only reason FFTA and FFXII are so similar could be explained through the belief that when Mewt said his favorite video game was Final Fantasy, he was referring to FFXII and so the Ivalice in FFTA was an emulation of the FFXII Ivalice.

You are correct. They are all independent of eachother. FFT has no Vieras, Bangaas, etc. and is much less fanciful. FFTA is more than likely an emulation of XII's world.

Hmmm, no, actually, it's one Ivalice throughout the ages. The reason why there are no Vieras, Bangaas etc in FFT is because FFT happens more than a millenium after FF XII (that being said, don't ask me why they disappeared from the map at some point....)
