A true ffix lover
The First U.S. Review of Final Fantasy XII
I just recieved my copy of October's PSM issue 30 minutes with their first review of FFXII. It's 14 pages long, but enjoyabe. Although FFXII lacked the familiar summons of Ifrit, Shiva, and Bahamut and also the musical score from Nabuo Umatsu, it still scored a 9.5/10. They revealed alot of content from the beggining of the game like how Basch joins you, the opening movie, and they also interviewed the games creator. The character design and some of its music was influenced from FFTactics and Vagrant Story. They said the games fields and towns are much bigger than in any other ff game. The battle system is alittle like FFxI's offline mode, but wiyh exception that youc ould put the the entire team on auto-pilot. The graphics are even better than X's, but of course not extravagantly. The story is revolved around war, not a love story like most of its predecessor's. The story is deep and complex, but lacked some character development. As the story is mostly revolved around war, it loses a lot of its frivolty from the other FF games, but Balthier makes up for that. I was pleased with their review as the first True FF game with its own original cast of characters since five years, FFXII deserves to stand at the top as this year's best RPG and winning a 9.5/10.
