    Grand Theft Auto

and Also FF7 which seems to have reached a status impossible of any game (even if it is still my favorite game)

I agree with anyone who's said FF VII, I mean I love it and all. It was my first rpg/FF/and videogame in generel ever, but I dunno it's not THAT great... imo obviously.

Without Halo, the XBox would be simply average.
You say that like it is the only good game the Xbox has.

And Soul Calibur II gets the best character out of the three for Xbox.

The Xenosaga Series and Xenogears as I consider it, are love-hate games. If you're not much into a huge storyline for a game, then don't play them. I don't see how anyone can call Xenosaga overrated. Just look at the reviews of the first two games. People are always calling down on it for its long cutscenes and that's why it never gets a high rating.

As for Xenogears, you can make that fact that it's overrated, but I'm going to go ahead and say it's not as well known as some people think. There are those hardcore console RPG players who don't visit online forums like these yet have never even heard of the game.

Halo I've always thought was overrated, but it's value is solely based on its replay value and its multiplayer value.

I thought FFT was overrated, but I'm too lazy to back that up.

I've never played Halo, (played a bit of Halo 2 once, but not enough to get into it) so I wont call it overrated. Although I am sick of hearing about it like it's the cure for AIDS or something. I'm sure it's not the be all end all of FPS games.
Dragon Quest is true RPG. It concentrates on battles and monsters that will constantly kill your party, and pretty much enforces the idea that levelling up is never a bad idea. Ever.

Keep in mind that I am NOT saying that Final Fantasy is bad (I wouldn't be on an FF forum if I was). It's just that some of them are just too easy. DQ/DW offers up a challenge every time, and requires a LOT of strategy during battles, instead of constantly mashing the Attack button and healing your party when necessary.

The Tales series and Phantasy Star series, while not well-known in the Western world, are best-sellers on the other side of the Pacific. While the SaGa series is rather loathed, it must be doing something right considering the large amount of games it has available.

    So...there you go.
I prefer the term "Treasure Hunter".

I don't live in America, and Doom 3 sounds like too much of a pain to run. The others...meh.

Saying that Dragon Quest is a true RPG because you have to level up is like saying Grand Theift Auto is a first person shooter because it involves guns. In order for it to be a true RPG, it would have to involve some actual role playing, something quite lacking in pretty much all Japanese console RPGs.

If DQ isn't an RPG, what is it, then? I don't understand that argument.

The term 'cRPG' (Console RPG) has been used to classify all games like DQ and FF. From what I can tell it's just a term people came up with to note that these games aren't really 'role playing games', but contain enough elements (despite lacking the fundamental one) to be classified as one.

Really, I don't have a great problem with people calling these games RPGs due to the fact that the term has become skewed, but to call DQ a 'true' RPG really is pushing it.

Halo: Just think it's overated. I played only a little bit of it but I didn't like it.

FFVII: I could pick any other Final Fantasy game over this one. It was mostly the graphics that turned me off. I know it's old but I just couldn't get into it with the grapics.

Some people I know like to role-play the whole sit in a tavern and talk thing, and some people like to role-play fighting. Now I do agree there could be much more personal choice in many cRPGs, but for the most part CRPGs just allow you to convey a personality, not make any real game-changing decisions.

Both are quite valid RPGs, when speaking of videogames, however.
