Kills for Limit Breaks

I was wondering, if you kill an enemy, or a group of enemies by using an item eg. swift bolt, right arm, m-tentacles - does that still count towards the kills you need to get the next limit break?

It should, but there's no way of knowing. I guess if you went and used only items to kill monsters with one character and you never got your limit after killing enough monsters, then no it doesn't count towards your kills. But, like I said, there's no sure way of knowing. Why'd you ask?

Because sometimes it is just easier to throw a swift bolt and conserve mp rather than use bolt3-all.

But im pleased to say that after some testing I answered my own question.... and its yes. I was in the forest outside Junon and trying to get Yuffie and killed some things with a grenade, ding - "learned Blade Beam"
