1024 x 768.
I can tell you that without looking at the poll because that's the smallest size that most people have their monitors set to these days. You will still have some viewing at 800 x 600, but not too many. Anything larger than 1024 x 768 and you're cutting out a signifigant proportion of the internet viewing population.
While most people on here probably have monitor resolutions set higher than 1024 x 768; that is the exception, not the norm.
Yeah, I'm with Bantam (Cock fighter!?) here; a few years ago, 800x600 would be the minimum, but 1024x768 is more prominent lately. Still, I use 1280x1024, which is what people SHOULD be using at least; that is to say, a width of 1280 - 1280x960 is technically more correct since it fits the 4:3 aspect ratio, but really, height is more important I think =P
Thread topic: I don't know what you should use as I have no web page skillz.
Poll: 1024 x 768. Just spit me in the eye fantastic.
1024x768 seems to be the most common resolution these days, but really you should design it so that the one page displays well for all resolutions.![]()

1280 x 1024 for the win.
I use 1280x800, but 1024x768 is what you should design with in mind because that is indeed the usual resolution these days, at least at minimum. A larger design will cause people to have to sidescroll, which is disgusting, especially if you have to downscroll to read stuff on a site. A smaller one for 800x600 would look a little too small, but even a midget design for a site is better than a too large one.
Well I voted like jowey as I did not read your ultra hard to read purple text. For a web page, design a liquid layout that will minimalise to 800 x 600 rather nicely. It is not to bad, even with css.
I know a lot of people say going with the 1k is nice, but I think it is a bit premature to make that jump just for the way that some PDAs work (using 800base resos) and so on. If you succesfully make a liquid layout (one that adjusts with the page size) you will kinda treat everyone to thier specifications. I prefer this method over all no matter what. I did this with all the sites at work and people just love 'em. Being that I program with openGL quite a bit, I learn to make thigs small, but expandable.

1024 x 768.
A: What skin makes purple hard to read.
B: I don't want to put the effort into a liquid page.

Liquid pages are hardly anymore effort, and tend not to look so retarded. And the 2k5 skin makes your purple suck. It could be my lap top though. If you want I can email you a site I just worked on that takes such a methodology. Looks great on any reso > 800 base.
edit: I checked on two different monitors and a third via vpn and your font color is hard to read on all of em
