Default Worst Smelling Book That You've Read

In your experience, what's the worst smelling book that you've encountered? When I say worst smelling I don't mean that the book and it's story was bad, but the odor that the book gives off is stinky.

Personally, I remember the worst smelling book for me being Journey to the Center of the Earth from quite a lot of years ago. Great story, bad smell.

The Necronomicon smelled like it was bound in human flesh and inked in blood.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (hardback) The glue binding the pages together smelled so bad I sprayed it with deodorant. That managed to hold back the tide for all of 10 minutes. Now that I think about it, that probably wasn't a good idea, but hey, I was 12, and spraying stuff with deodorant was the solution to all my problems back then.

One of the older paperback editions of the Stand that I own smells pretty funky. Other than that, I can't say I've ever sniffed many bad smelling books...I only enjoy sniffing good smelling books.

I don't think I've ever read a book that smelled truly repugnant, but there are some philosophy textbooks on my bookshelves that are so dusty they make me sneeze.

I also had trouble with the stench of a Harry Potter book’s (I can’t remember which installment, but it definitely was one of them) pages, although mine was a paperback; I don’t know exactly what was causing the smell, but it reminded me of when I was poisoned with campylobacter a few years prior to reading the book (I can’t remember which installment, but it definitely was one of them.) I felt so sick while reading the book that I can’t even remember finishing it... or if I finished it.

    I loooove new book smell.

The Martian Chronicles was super old though and falling apart, so it didn't have a nice smell.
