If I wanted the strongest team that consists of playable characters, I would choose:
Cloud Strife (FFVII AC)
Squall Leonhart (FFVIII)
Cidolfas Orlandu (FFT)
Yuna (FFX, sphere grid mastered)
However, I probably wouldn't build my team that way. On my last game of FF3j (for NES), this is what I named my characters:

I know, they're supposed to be four orphan brothers, but I decided to ignore that.A team of Auron, Beatrix, Aeris and Golbez isn't bad, though. A party member I'd also like to mention is Agrias (from FFT). She's a lot like Beatrix, a very powerful sword fighter.
