In New Zealand you have to pass 3 tests which suck for the following reasons:

Learners: You take a written test consisting of 35 questions, only allowed to get 3 wrong. Pass and you can drive as long as there is a parent with you.

Restricted: After waiting 6 months after passing your learners you can go for this. It's the 1st driving test easy. Pass and you can drive at certain times of the day.

Full: After waiting 1 year after passing the restricted test you take another driving test. Pass and now you can drive a car like a proper person.
