The Lexx itself is a living starship. It is a massive technorganic, dragonfly-like organism whose sole purpose is to destroy ANY planet within seconds with a single blast--usually doing so by firing a massive horizontal stream of energy, or a single ring of energy at a celestial body incinerating the whole of the sphere a few seconds before the celestial body exploded.

The show itself was more about the misadventures of the crew, who themselves, were searching for a "new home." The crew consisted of four characters (not counting the sentient starship himself):
Stan, the captain, was a former security guard on the planet where The Lexx was built. He is a tride and true coward! Xev, is the only female on board, she is an incomplete love-slave who is part Clister Lizard--a 14' large worm-like reptile, which is very strong and extremely nasty. Kai, a dead and sub-atomically altered, re-animated assassin, who is practically indestructable. Finally, there is 790, the homocidal robot-head who is at first--after recieving the remainder of Xev's love-slave transformation--in perfect, psychotic love with Xev, but later falls in love with Kai after severe damage causes him to reset.
