This one's for all you FFVIII fans out there:
This is about Azar's text, 'cause SOME people had to post while I was writing this. The waviness/slant/whatever of the "Eyes on" looks tacky, but the colour of it (transparent with white glow?) looks good.
Final Fantasy also looks kinda tacky. Maybe try it as the same colour as "Eyes on" or alternatively don't emboss it (I think that's the term!) and think of some other way to jazz it up.

There's no real reason besides tradition for it to be limited to 400 pixels wide. I don't know of anyone that uses 640x480 these days.

HEAR THIS: Although a great deal of these banners are really quite beautiful, I DO NOT WANT the picture containing mostly/all FF girls. That's a little bit too feminine/fanboy-ish.
Try arguing against BoB about how important tradition is for this sort of thing, and see where it gets you.
Third time's the charm? I redid the text since people hated it.
The text in the second one is a lot easier to read.
Re-worked the text to what can be considered better.
And then something more akin to a FF logo:
I did a version with eyes, but I felt it was inferior. You are free to look at it and agree.
Okay, how's this one? Equal male and female, there's an FFVI character, dark, the eye is the main focus, doesn't seem very busy, the coloring seems accurate to what the forum's color is, and the text is a decent size.
