Never played FFX.
Sephiroth was hard when I first fought him. FFVII was my first RPG, and I was quite bad in the game. My levels weren't too high, and I didn't have any Ribbons or the Big Guard enemy skill. I had to get them to make sure I could even stand a chance against Safer Sephiroth since all his attacks (Shadow Flare, wing slash, Pale Horse, Break etc) could kill a party member with one hit, and if the status ailments caused by Pale Horse didn't mess me up, Super Nova and its status ailments did, and the survivors were defeated by Break.
I had loads of trouble fighting the Iron Man enemies on my way to Sephiroth, and I kept running away from them (Big Guard helped me survive their attacks later). I used Knights of the Round against Jenova Synthesis and Bizarro Sephiroth. Those were usually one-hit-kills. It took me 6+ KotR's to kill Safer Sephiroth when he had Wall since each knight did 2000-3000 damage on him. Even after using a DeBarrier on him, I still needed to cast KotR and mime it twice to kill him.

greets Trakar!
i had every character at 99 with all their final limits and ultimate weapons....i also had ziedrich armour and touph ring...and ribbon...several counter attacks, several counters linked with mime and several 4x-cut....this way i could counter with 4x-cut using mime and counter....i jus cast dispel or whatever to get rid of his shield and then hacked away with 4x-cut...no need for limits or kotr...easy peezy....hahahahahahah.....braskas final aeon was sooooooo easy....it only took like one hit to beat all those bosses well one hit if their hp wasnt over 99999....i had done the whole stat max thing in order to beat the dark aeons....
Why should I have to limit myself in order to make him harder to kill? If I have to do that in order to make him the least bit challenging, then why not go farther and unequip all Materia and armor?
Good. Do yourself a favor and never play it. If you do, you'll feel the strong urge to vomit afterwards. Unless, maybe, if you have the PAL version. Then it might be worth playing.
The point is, most people normally playing the game don't obtain those power-summons/Limits. People normally playing the game* would probably find Sephy a moderate challenge. I found him moderately challenging before knowing about all these things. You might as well get all the Celestial Weapons and max your stats in Final Fantasy X, then say 'why was Jecht so easy?!1one'.
Furthermore, I detest long, expensive MP Summons and Limit Breaks, but to each their own.
*That is, without using a strategy guide or hunting these things down with previous knowledge of them.
So because something is hidden then I am not supposed to use it since it makes the game too easy? Sorry, but if I go through the work of breeding a gold Chocobo, then I am going to use the treasures I get from doing it.
FF10 is a whole different story.
MP Absorb.
The only bad thing about KotR is that it's summon sequence can be a minor inconvenience. I usually just watch TV while it's going on. If I am feeling really impatient or something, then I will just Mime some Limits.
Nah FFX isn't a whole different story because I can just as easily say...
If I went through all that trouble to get Overdrive-Ap weapons why not level up cheaply, and if I went through all that trouble to get the Celestial Weapons why not use them?
So because something is hidden then I am not supposed to use it since it makes the game too easy? Sorry, but if I go through the work of breeding a gold Chocobo, then I am going to use the treasures I get from doing it.
I don't think you read that properly. If I'm wrong, I apologize.
Most people won't get KOR/Omnislash/even know how to obtain these things playing the game normally. So, playing the game normally, the final boss is indeed, adequately challenging. Of course if you pimp out your characters with the best skills/Limits, then of course, anything isn't a challenge.
Yeah, Counter/Mime is ftw.The only bad thing about KotR is that it's summon sequence can be a minor inconvenience. I usually just watch TV while it's going on. If I am feeling really impatient or something, then I will just Mime some Limits.
what zeromes is sayin is that for regular dudes out there that jus want to play the game to pass time and probably wont join a forum dedicated to it will find the final boss pretty tough....the first time i played the game i only had one character alive to deal the last hit everyone else got toad and confuse or wing slashed...my hp was only like 3500-5000....no kotr and no omnislash...i only had 1 ribbon and i probably had some weak ass armour...i never stole from the turks to get the good armour and accesories...but the second time...the game got beat bad....
I never stole from the turks and got no ribbons, and I do not want to play FFX because it looks terrible. Don't even get me started on X-2
FFVII must be the only Final Fantasy you've ever played, because all the final bosses are "pathetically easy" if you prepare right.
I was able to beat Kefka in FFVI w/o being touched once, by getting characters to lvl 55 before entering the Tower. And that's w/o any ability remotely on-par with Omnislash or KOTR.
I beat 7 about 3 days ago, going in right after disc3 starts, and Safer Sephiroth's up there w/ the other Final Bosses. Super Nova alone was a hassle, and his attack that is capable of inflicting muiltiple status ailments was pretty bad too.
I'd have to say Zeromus and Neo X-Death were the hardest, as you had to go ALL OUT with every move just to have a chance.
