So, who do you think were/are the greatest voices in Rock?
I think that Janis Joplin was extremely talented. Songs like "Cry Baby", "Mercedes Benz", "Kozmic Blues" and "Piece of My Heart" are definitely Rock classics. Too bad she died so young.

Jimmy Page? Elvis Presely? Johnny Cash?
Alle über meinem Gesicht geschrieben!
Jim Morrison would be high on my list, but there are a lot.
Take care all.
Little Richard
It would depend on the generation.
Even then, there's far too many to list.
WICKED-AWESOME SIG.
Blackie Lawless.
Owen made this sig. R.I.P.
Jim Morrison. No question.
Jimmy Page was Led Zeppelin's guitarist. If you want the singer, Robert Plant.Originally Posted by Jsb01
Definitions on what can be considered rock music tends to differ from person to person, I have a very broad definition of the genre, as I do not like to get into the subcatagories and seperate genres when they are, essentially, the same thing.
Thom Yorke, of Radiohead fame, is my favorite vocalist. Enchanting, unique, and more often than not, an instrument all its own.
Daniel Gildenlöw, vocalist of Pain of Salvation, is probably my second favorite. I have only heard three of their records to date, having only recently begun listening to them, but I cannot name a song of their's I did not immediately enjoy listening to. "Pilgrim" from One Hour By The Concrete Lake is by far one of my favorite songs.
Matthew Bellamy(Muse) and Daniel Johns(Silverchair) also rank highly. Ben Gibbard(The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie) also has something about his voice that I cannot quite pinpoint, but I enjoy listening to all the same.
Not a lot of old time bands or vocalists on the list, I know. But these are immediate to my mind and closest to my heart, so there we go. Johnny Cash had a good voice, I will recognize that much. But I have to give a thumbs down to Kurt Cobain, I couldn't really stand his voice.
Mike Patton of Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, and many other side projects has an incredible range, a very identifiable sound, and has been imitated by other vocalist for the last 10 years. One of the most underlooked singers in recent rock history.
Cedric-Bixler Zavala of The Mars Volta and At The Drive-In has a very very high pitched singing voice, and can hit every note perfectly. You WILL fall in love with his voice. Very unique and powerful.
Thom Yorke, for reasons listed up above.
Maynard James Keenan for being quite unique in singing style and sound.
