You don't exactly need HDMI cables to 'experience the best possible graphics'.
It's really technical... but the Component cables currently used for HD have enough bandwidth to support 1080p resolutions. The problem is that most TVs with the component inputs don't expect to receive that kind of signal (some max out at 1080i, most max out at 720p, a few don't even get past 480p).
