I know I've listed to a couple of bands because I loved their look - doesn't make me "bad" or "stupid". Just get over it, so what if some girl wanted to listen to a song because a guy in the band had cool hair. What's the matter? Do people always have to listen to music for some deep and meaningful reason?

... So the music just doesn't come out of my computer or cd player?

    Humans make this?
    ...

    Why didn't anyone tell me?

Nope, people can listen to what they want. Just remember when you see those stuckup 18 yearolds in thier boybands that real talent is pushed aside when people listen to bands because of thier hair or sex appeal. Hell, that is what the whole genre of Popular Culture music is all about, its designed and engineered to make profit.

Kerrang went downhill ages ago. Last good mag they did was in 2001, after then it started getting pants.
I find that now I completly ignore how people look, how old they are and when the band were about.
I think that right now pretty much all popular rock/metal group all look the same and they ALL have the same hair. Apart form Muse. Because they've always been awesome <3

    Trust No one

Why don't you just look at pictures of them instead?

You completely contradict what you say xD What happens in if I think say for example (hypothetical), Westlife has more talent that Elvis ever did and on top of that they're so much more good looking, also I'm attracted to the lead singer? What's it to you if I listen to a band because I think they're 'hot'?

If these people you talk about push aside 'real talent' in favour of 18 year olds in boy bands because of their "sex appeal" - doesn't that signal that maybe these "people" think that they are talented?

Not if they listen to them because of their sex appeal, like you claim you do.

I'm not claiming to do anything xD I'm just trying to say, if a girl wants to listen to a song because she likes the lead singers hair - what does it matter to anybody? She may have seen him in a magazine and wanted to see what his music was like?

    quiet...i mean quite

and what if this initial infatuation or interest leads to a genuine appreciation for music?? i originally started listening to the beatles cause my older sister liked them...is that a more valid reason?

Let me put it in a different way then.

It is unfair that boybands like Westlife get to play on stage infront of so many people when bands that have a lot more talent than them are left sitting in pubs and rundown clubs because the music scene prefers sex appeal to actual good music, hell if you wanna see good hairstyles and sexy boys/girls then go to a fasion show. Music is not about fasion or sex appeal music is about music, it seems so many people have actually forgotten about that, its a shame.

Thats a good point, but many people I know down in devon and dorset that play in bands are really upset. They have tried so many times to pick up thier pace, to get recording deals, to play gigs. Those bands get turned down because people who have more publicity and sex appeal apply to the same record studios/gig managers. That sucks, people prefer to see guys/girls with big tits or great bodies and hairstyle rather that see a band that actually has talent instead of singing like they are having orgasms all the time.
