I personally think "hate" is too strong a word. If you liked FFX, you'll either like X-2 or like X all the more. That's all there is to it.
I didn't think the EXPERIENCE of X-2 was that horrible. Perhaps the main characters could have acted a little less like the sorority whores in your average high-school/college adolescent drama flick.
IMSO, the sequel probably would have had more success as a movie or a miniseries on television.
