For Summoner I've seen White Mage to be the most common subjob. It allows you some extra MP and the ability to be a backup healer to give the main healer a break.

For White Mage I've seen Black Mage to be the most common subjob. It offers MP, some good abilities, and also the Warp spell, which send you back home from anywhere in the game.

Basically, if you are a mage job then you should sub another mage job.

If you like playing with others and exploring a vast world then the game is worth it.

This game is soooo much more consuming than anyother title in the FF series (IMO)

In XI you can do any number of things to occupy yourself. You can Synthesis item for your guild or to make money. You can do the quests around your country. There are Outpost runs. Missions for your country. Talk to and make friends. Lvl your character's jobs. Now you can raise your own chocobo. You can farm either items from mobs or garden i think its called. You can mine. You can harvest lumber. Once you attain lvl 20 you can quest for your chocobo license. at lvl 18 you can quest for your sub job and 30 to quest advanced sub jobs Ie smn bst rng sam nin pld etc. I could go on and on but the point is there is soooo much to do that you could literally play for years and still have stuff to do

Chuck Noblet: Can anyone tell me the tragic irony of the Trojan War? Tina? Tina: Um, that horses are friendly creatures yet a hollow, wooden one was used to destroy Troy? Chuck Noblet: Wrong and no. Anyone else? Chip? Chip: That the mighty warrior Achilles was killed by a small cut to his ankle. Chuck Noblet: Chip is wronger. OK, here it is. The tragic irony of the Trojan War is that though it was fought over Helen, who was young and beautiful, by the time they rescued her ten years later, she was old and ugly. Tina: But wasn't recovering the king's wife reward enough for the Greeks? Chuck Noblet: Tina, an ugly woman is never a reward.

    as for chocobos.

    you can hire them n_n-b

or. perhaps raise your own one from a cute baby boco.

if you like WHMs, you will have to ALWAYS expect to be on call when training. as you are the only true reason the party is living.

Eh, I'm sure someone who actually plays a mage in the game could give you the finer points on that better than me.

You can level as many jobs as you like, by the way.

You will want to lvl your whitemage to lvl 18.
When you have done that then you want to unlock the sub job quest and choose a sub. Since Blm is at this point available, go with it. So while lvling blm to become your "Temp" sub, switch whm to sub and blm to main.

After you get your blm to at least 15 then you can switch back to your Whm as a main job and Blm as the sub and lvl to 30.

When you get your Whm to lvl 30 you will finaly be able to quest to unlock the smn job.

After this is complete you would probably want to use smn as the main job and whm as your back up or sub.

The reason this is, is because your sub job no matter what it is will only function at half (and this is at max) of what your main job is.
