Character Battle Tournament

Well, this is an idea I have grown to have a great interest in. First forum I was ever on had this sort of tournament and I grew quite fond. I would like a tournament with videogame characters fighting and members formulating ideas on why the character would win. It be a form of debate, taking into account what two characters can do and deciding how one may pull off a victory. Now rules and exact details are in the planning stage but putting all that together be meaningless if the populace here were not interested. I would like to hear your opinion whether yay or nay and why you feel that way...hehe, rhyme. Also questions are welcome. A small FAQ

1. How will a “battle” work?
A. It will take place in a pre-assigned arena where the characters are allowed full range of abilities and weaponry.

2. Will there be a poll and will it determine the winner?
A. No. This is NOT a popularity contest. Just because 10 people vote on a poll say Character A will beat Character B, if Character B ‘s supporters actually post a convincing argument on how B will be victorious, then B will win.

3. How is a winner decided?
A. If this all works right and enough members are interested, I would be a judge along with anyone else who’d volunteer. Me and this person would confer on the battles, taking into account points made by posters and then reach an agreement on who would be a winner. A corresponding “reasons” thread would deal with how the decision was reached.

That’s it. If anyone has interest in this idea, which I hope you do, please post.

There was some good initial interest, but on my third one I ran out of time and interest had died down to the point where I couldn't continue. I've been meaning to bring it back someday, and I may at some point.

Well, action heroes will have to wait for the next tournament. I don’t know if Big Boss, as awesome as he is, could take on say Omega Weapon if it gets the vote to be in the tournament. Lol

Okay. ^^ That’s good. You can be the judge, then. First come, first serve. But we have a bit before the preliminaries begin.

This is the best response I could really hope for so I’ll start drawing up the outline and rules for the tournament to begin as soon as possible.

how are characters decided

Good question. It will be a Heroes vs. Villains tournament. Everyone pics 3 villains and 3 heroes to enter into the tournament. Now, doubtless everyone may disagree on certain names but I'm positive there will be a couple common votes for the same characters and the rest who may only get one vote will be selected at random to be in the tournament. I will encourag epeople newly suggesting their three heroes and villains to look at everyone who's posted before them so they can possibly choose a name already said and make the process less time-consuming.
